AETHER CT Co., Ltd. in Noksan National Industrial Complex, Gangseo-gu, Busan,
is producing carbon fiber composite material hydrogen storage containers (Type 4) following super-large and high-pressure steel pressure vessels (Type 1) for hydrogen filling stations.
We are leaping to become a world-class professional company.
Unlike internal combustion engines, hydrogen emits only water vapor after combustion, making it an eco-friendly fuel for carbon neutrality.
Types 1 to 4 are classified according to the material. Type 1 is a container made of iron and has excellent economic feasibility, and is currently used entirely for transportation and storage at domestic hydrogen filling stations.
Type 2 is a metal body with carbon fiber wrapped around it, and Type 3 refers to a container with a body and head wrapped around it.
Type 4 is manufactured by removing metal and winding carbon fiber composite material on plastic. It is light and easy to move, but it is expensive.
AETHER CT was established in May 2020 by physically splitting the ultra-large high-pressure vessel business, a net business unit, from NK Co., Ltd., a listed company.
The only seamless ultra-large and high-pressure hydrogen storage container produced by this company in Korea was selected as a “world-class product” by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
AETHER CT encompasses various fields such as semiconductor special gas, hydrogen energy, natural gas, and transportation and storage systems for various industrial gases.
It has been in business for about 3 years, but in reality, it is a company that has honed its skills in this field for about 30 years.
It produced hydrogen tube trailers and ultra-high-pressure vessels for hydrogen filling stations and exported them not only to Korea but also to Europe and the United States, receiving the ‘Top of Export of 30 Million Dollars’ in 2021.
Last year, it achieved the No. 1 share in the world market for Type 1 containers. Last year, sales were 86.6 billion won.
This is a 54% increase compared to 2020, two years ago, and aims to achieve 100 billion won in sales this year.
AETHER CT is attracting more attention as a comprehensive container company because it acquired S Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. in Buan, North Jeolla Province.
This is to provide a comprehensive hydrogen transportation and storage solution with overseas priority in response to the expansion of demand for type 4 containers.
In this regard, AETHER CT plans to invest 59.7 billion won by 2025 to build a type 4 container production facility and re-inspection facility in the 2nd industrial complex in Wanju Techno Valley in North Jeolla Province. Safety is also strictly managed.
Oh Yong-rok, director of Research Center 1, whom we met at the headquarters of AETHER CT on the 3rd, said with confidence,
“If a hydrogen container explodes, it can lead to a fire or loss of life, so we always keep it in a safe state.”
Earlier, on February 16, AETHER CT held a vision proclamation ceremony at Shilla Stay Seobusan,
declaring that it would achieve sales of 300 billion won by 2028 and become the world's best comprehensive container company.
As catchphrases, ‘to safety and quality’, ‘to our technology’, ‘to the world! To the future!’.
"Last year, it became the world's No. 1 market share for Type 1 containers thanks to the efforts of executives and employees who have been producing and managing quality in the attitude of making luxury ceramics," said Wee Ho-sun, CEO of AETHER CT.
